Peer Mediation

Peer Mediation is the process for students of the same age-group to resolving disputes between two people or small groups.  This process has proven effective in schools around the United States, changing the way students understand and resolve conflict in their lives.  Changes include improved self-esteem, listening and critical thinking skills, and school climate for learning, as well as reduced disciplinary actions and less fights.

Student Leadership Services, Inc. (SLS) works to develop healthy youth that are physically, emotionally and socially at their best.  SLS assures a positive outcome among its young members by providing the following: information and education, training, care and support, high expectation of success, and opportunities for meaningful participation and contribution.

SLS?s Peer Mediation-Conflict Resolution Training is an 9.5 hour training based on science and research (Benson; Botvin; Hawkins and Catalano; Werner); Johnson & Johnson; Michigan Model; U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Justice; National Mental Health Services, Community health services (New Center CMHS); Intermediate School Districts (Wayne RESA); reports (NIDA; SAMSHA); human development theorists (Bandura, Bronfenbrenner; Erickson; Maslow; Piaget) and youth development researchers (High/Scope Educational Research Foundation).
