In 2009, SLS piloted the new “Students Leading Students” Model Program (SLS MP). Five chapters are participating. The chapters and advisors are:

The SLS MP is a year-long, outcome based, youth-led prevention program. The program consists of five parts.
Part 1: Advisors attend three summer one day Advisor Trainings.
Part 2: Students attend an all day, eight hour SLS training.
Part 3: Chapters complete three Progress Reports and attend one SLS booster training.
Part 4: Chapter participates in the High/Scope Youth Program Quality Assessment evaluation administered by SLS for SLS Chapters.
Part 5: Chapters develop and present student workshops at the SLS 25th Annual High School Leadership Conference in November 2010.
Chapters that successfully complete all five parts will receive $1,100.00 incentive funding to be used within their chapter, and 10 SLS t-shirts. SLS is a Michigan student organization that implements the best, proven effective, peer safety programs. The SLS MP plan certifies SLS Chapters that are implementing proven-effective, outcome-based, peer-led safety programs.
