than 1,007,000 Michigan students and families are reached
by Student Leadership Service's, Inc. (SLS) programs
annually. SLS is the umbrella organization that directs
and coordinates student-led prevention programs in
Michigan. SLS, a private non-profit, coordinates:

Students
Taking A New Direction (STAND) with 100 middle school
chapters,

Leadership
Trainings, such as Peer Resistance Skills (PRS), which
trains 1200 high school student trainers yearly,

SLS
Alumni Association members who contribute more than 8,000
volunteer hours annually.

SLS
has worked to reduce the number of alcohol-related
crashes, increase the use of safety belts, and encourage
young people to live free of alcohol and other drugs while
teaching life and leadership skills. SLS provides adult
and student training in leadership, prevention, and topics
related to and including, organizational development, team
building, communication, message marketing, social
awareness, community outreach, asset building and
inclusiveness. In addition, SLS offers workshops for
parents and educators.

SLS
provides youth and asset development through effective
research and science-based prevention strategies. SLS
offers educational programs, direction, support and
training opportunities to over 890 student-led chapters
throughout the state of Michigan.

Since
the beginning in 1982, SLS has delivered peer-led
research-based models reaching both non-drinking and
at-risk, alcohol using/experimenting youth with abstinence
as our goal. Student Leadership Services, Inc. develops
young leaders who are creating social change.
